I'm not so much wannabe chef as a wannabe food taster. I just love trying new foods. I started cooking at an early age, mum was bed ridden and dad and big sis were at work so the task fell to me when I got home from school. Mum would shout out instructions from her bed in the living room and I would juggle pots, pans and ingredients in the kitchen. We did quite well between us.
Over the years I've collected recipes and cook books, working on the assumption that every book has at least one good recipe in it, you just have to eat a lot of crap sometimes before find it. Once I have though (found it, that is), it goes into my own personal cookbook, which,I've decided it's time to share.....

The End of an Era

It is with sadness in my heart and a tear in my eye that I have to announce that I am moving from my beloved little smallholding 'The Mains'.
It has not been a home so much as a life-style.
I have learnt about keeping chickens and ducks, how to pluck pheasant and to recognise the beautiful peep of a buzzard.
I have seen stoats and deer (and the occasional rat Ugh!) in my back garden, been over run with frogs, rabbits and mice, the latter of which have been caught and re-homed a few miles down the road.
I have nursed a sick hedgehog - sadly it died (but not before I paid for a trip to the vets!) and reared a fledgling blackbird.
I have lived off my veggie patch (so have the rabbits), I've lived off the rabbits (that'll teach 'em!) and I've picked berries from the hedgerows to make wonderful pies.

It is no surprise to me of course that 'The Mains' has been sold (after all I do own it) - it's the completion date that is causing the problem - 31st January! So, for the first week of February I will be in limbo which is causing me a little concern over displaying the roundup for JFI.
Still, not to be defeated, I have a plan.
As I have made the rules for February's JFI to include recipes old and new, it would be a great help to me if those of you who are submitting a recipe that is already displayed on your blog, would send me the links sometime during January. That will at least give me a head start in categorising them and getting the roundup posted in time - and hopefully it should help take my mind off moving.

Thanks anjali, The chocolates look great.
we've been packing for weeks. That's the problem with having a lot of space, you collect a lot of junk!
